This paper presents reflections arising during the elective rotation in the residency program of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, specifically in the Occupational Therapy section at the “Dr. Arturo Umberto Illia” Burn Hospital. The aim is to explore potential approaches to daily practice in hospitalization wards, a setting where the shift from a reductionist tradition, prevalent in the literature, towards the confluence of diverse paradigms is most evident. Hospitalized individuals often experience disruptions in their daily functioning; thus, this paper proposes that the core potential of the occupational therapy profession lies in the use of meaningful occupations. This involves preparation, simulation, and fostering spaces that address individual interests and motivations. Furthermore, it is crucial to consider aspects beyond the biological dimension, encompassing the holistic nature of patients, while also addressing the impact of the institutional context on participation opportunities.
